Beatrice Beck Schimmer has been Vice President Medicine Zurich since August 2018. She is a member of the seven-strong Executive Board of the University of Zurich.
As Vice President Medicine Zurich, she leads the Faculty of Medicine together with the Dean and Deputy Dean.

Beatrice Beck Schimmer studied human medicine at the University of Bern and habilitated at the University of Zurich in 2003. From 2005 to 2018, she worked as a senior physician at the University Hospital Zurich and, from 2009, additionally as a full professor of anesthesiology, where she was active in basic and clinical research. From 2012 to 2018, she was a member of the National Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation, and since 2011 she has been actively involved in the promotion of young scientists, especially in career planning for women.
